Lizzie Kate Driskell

Mrs. Lizzie Kate Driskell died July 28. The daugh­ter of the late Johnny and Mariah Tug­gle Manuel she was born in 1934. She was raised and ed­u­cated in New­ton County and worked for Beaver Man­u­fac­tur­ing, Mansfield, for 28 years un­til re­tir­ing.

Mrs. Driskell was a mem­ber of Mace­do­nia Bap­tist Church serv­ing on the Usher Board, Se­nior Choir and Mother Board. Mrs. Driskell loved to fish, shop, con­verse on the phone with sib­lings and travel with her friends from the New­ton County Se­nior Cit­i­zens Cen­ter.

She was a lov­ing and car­ing per­son and had an im­mense love for her fam­ily, es­pe­cially her grand­chil­dren. Mrs. Driskell was pre­ceded in death by sib­lings John­nie Mae, Lil­lian ( Al­berta), David and Vera.

Sur­viv­ing are sons Mr. Robert L. Driskell, Mr. and Mrs. Sam­mie ( Max­ine) Driskell, Mr. and Mrs. Charles ( Clarissa) Driskell, Mr. Henry Driskell, Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne ( Mar­ion) Driskell, Mr. Ge­orge Driskell, all of Cov­ing­ton, Mr. Jerome Driskell of Decatur; daugh­ters Mr. and Mrs. Gre­gory ( Blondie) Ben­son, Ms. Terri Driskell, both of Cov­ing­ton; 13 grand­chil­dren; 10 great­grand­chil­dren; brothers Mr. and Mrs. Melvin ( Ju­lia) Manuel of At­lanta, Mr. and Mrs. Wil­lie R. ( Betty) Manuel of Decatur, Mr. and Mrs. Wil­lie C. ( Ido­nia) Manuel of Rei­dsville; sis­ters Ms. Lu­cille Phillips of Cov­ing­ton, Ms. Thur­man Banks of Decatur, Mr. and Mrs. Cleve­land ( An­nette) Pope of Cov­ing­ton, Ms. Betty J. Bell of Ma­con; brother- in­law Mr. Wil­lie Driskell of Cleve­land, Ohio; spe­cial friends Ms. Lil­lie Turk, Mr. Joe Bow­man; a host of nieces, neph­ews, cousins, other rel­a­tives and friends.

Funeral ser­vices were held at 2 p. m. Aug. 4 at Mace­do­nia Mis­sion­ary Bap­tist Church with the Rev. William H. Gaither of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment fol­lowed at Mace­do­nia Mis­sion­ary Bap­tist Church Ceme­tery.
