For­mer wolver­ines cre­ate new pact

New as­so­ci­a­tion to cel­e­brate the an­niver­sary of 102-0 vic­tory

The R.L. Cousin Wolver­ine Foot­ball Alumni As­so­ci­a­tion was of­fi­cially or­ga­nized Sun­day at the Wash­ing­ton Street Com­mu­nity Cen­ter.

The group elected of­fi­cers and im­me­di­ately be­gan mak­ing plans for the up­com­ing 40th an­niver­sary of the team’s record set­ting vic­tory on Nov. 3, 1967 against West­side High School in Lin­coln County.

The 102-0 score was a Ge­or­gia state high school foot­ball scor­ing record which still stands to­day. The his­toric game was played at the R.L. Cousin High School foot­ball field off of Geiger Street in Cov­ing­ton.

Vice-pres­i­dent for the as­so­ci­a­tion and for­mer Wolver­ine tackle, Billy Har­ris said the group was work­ing on get­ting the word out to other play­ers to join their team­mates in or­ga­niz­ing the re­union.

For­mer Wolver­ine play­ers can con­tact Har­ris at (678) 471-1990. The next meet­ing of the R.L. Cousin Wolver­ine Foot­ball Alumni As­so­ci­a­tion will be held at 4 p.m., Sun­day, Aug. 26 at the Wash­ing­ton Street Com­mu­nity Cen­ter.
