State hosts rival Tech for first time in 34 years
ATLANTA — Georgia State will play host to Georgia Tech for the first time since 1973 as part of its 200708 schedule under first-year coach Rod Barnes.
Also, Georgia State’s Colonial Athletic Association schedule announced on Thursday includes home games against 2007 NCAA tournament teams Virginia Commonwealth and Old Dominion and 2006 Final Four participant George Mason.
The Panthers will play Georgia Tech on Dec. 5 _ its second game against an Atlantic Coast Conference team, following a Nov. 20 visit to Florida State.
Georgia State opens it season at home against AlabamaBirmingham on Nov. 10.
The Panthers’ first CAA game also is in Atlanta, on Dec. 1 against Old Dominion.
“We’re excited to have some very attractive home games for the Georgia State fans with Georgia Tech and UAB coming to the Sports Arena, as well as VCU, George Mason, Drexel and Old Dominion playing here during the CAA season,” Barnes said. “ We look forward to great home crowds this season.”
