Brandon Chaz Barnes, 25, was arrested Saturday evening and charged with 12 different crimes after leading police on a foot chase through the woods.

Two people called the Newton County Sheriff’s Office to complain about an aggressive driver, who allegedly pointed a gun at them at a gas station on the corner of Brown Bridge and Turner Lake roads.

NCSO Deputy Terry Rogers located Barnes’ vehicle at Brown Bridge and Crowell roads and tried to make contact with him.

Barnes then tried to speed away through the BP Station, nearly hitting three juveniles, but was blocked by another deputy.

He then jumped out of the 2006 white Toyota Camry he was driving and ran into the woods across the street from the gas station.

When Barnes was apprehended behind a residence nearby, arresting officers charged him with aggressive driving, reckless driving, attempting to elude police, obstruction of officers, pointing a firearm at another, aggravated assault, cruelty to children, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of drug related objects, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed weapon.
