Wendy Sher­rell Lackey

Wendy Sher­rell Lackey died Aug. 18. The daugh­ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray­mond (An­nie Lois) Lackey, she was born in 1955 in Evanston, Ill. She at­tended Evanston pub­lic schools. She joined New Hope CME Church at an early age, and af­ter mov­ing to Cov­ing­ton, she joined Richard’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She served as an usher at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church, worked on the Pas­tor’s Aid Com­mit­tee at Spring­field Bap­tist Church, and later joined Strong­hold Chris­tian Church. Ms. Lackey worked as an in­dus­trial plant en­gi­neer. She had a pas­sion for mu­sic, en­joyed sports and cheered her home team the Chicago bulls. She was hap­pi­est when sur­rounded by fam­ily. She was pre­ceded in death by par­ents and brothers Mr. Ray­mond Lackey Jr. and Robert Lackey.

Sur­viv­ing are chil­dren Aaron Weatherly, Te­meka Weatherly, Candice El­lis and Keiven Rhodes; grand­son Micah Weatherly; brother Mr. Steve (the Rev. Lisa) Lackey; sis­ter Mrs. Kim­berly (Randy) Lawrence; nieces and neph­ews Toriya, Tris­ten, Ran­dall, Raven, Ray­mond James and Kyn­dal; a host of aunts, un­cles, cousins and friends.

Funeral ser­vices were held Aug. 25 at Strong­hold Chris­tian Church, Litho­nia, with the Rev. Lisa Lackey and Pas­tor Ben­jamin Gaither of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment fol­lowed at Lackey’s Ceme­tery, Cov­ing­ton.
