Uvah Hood Elling­ton

Uvah Hood Elling­ton, 90, of Cony­ers died Nov. 20 at Heart­land Hospice. The daugh­ter of the late Char­lie Claud and Donie Mitcham Hood, she was a na­tive of New­ton County but had made her home in Cony­ers since 1980 where she was a mem­ber of Cony­ers Pres­by­te­rian Church. She worked in the millinery de­part­ment with Macy’s De­part­ment Store in At­lanta and Chicago and was a book­keeper at West­ern Auto As­so­ci­ate Store in New­nan and Thomasville, where she worked with her late hus­band Har­vey An­der­son Elling­ton, to whom she was mar­ried for 68 years. Mrs. Elling­ton loved to cook, es­pe­cially bak­ing, and en­joyed work­ing in the yard. She is pre­ceded in death by sis­ters Otera Ca­son and Sarah Brooks and brothers C.C. Hood Jr. and Robert H. Hood.

Sur­viv­ing are daugh­ters and sonin-law Lynn Elling­ton and Ch­eryl E. and Tom Jones, all of Cony­ers;
