Jerry Sor­row, 61, of Cov­ing­ton, died Nov. 27 at New­ton Med­i­cal Cen­ter. Mr. Sor­row was a min­is­ter of the gospel for over 30 years as an evan­ge­list, mu­sic evan­ge­list and pas­tor. He was a gifted singer and song­writer and a very de­voted hus­band, fa­ther and grand­fa­ther. Mr. Sor­row en­joyed work­ing as a bus driver for the New­ton County School Sys­tem af­ter he re­tired from the min­istry. Many chil­dren rid­ing his bus called him Mr. Happy.

Sur­viv­ing are wife Carol Sor­row of Cov­ing­ton; daugh­ter and son-in-law Lor­rie and Kurt Smith of Adel; sons and daugh­ters-in-law Don­nie and Janet Sor­row of Ox­ford, David and Rachel Sor­row of Cov­ing­ton; grand­chil­dren Len­nie Sor­row, Ni­cole Smith, Trey Sor­row, Owen Smith, Sera Sor­row; brothers and sis­ters-in-law Dale and Carolyn Sor­row of Forsyth, Frankie and Kaye Sor­row of Ma­con.

Funeral ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. to­day, Nov. 30, at Zion Bap­tist Church with the Rev. Ed Brum­low and the Rev. Don­nie Sor­row of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Lake For­est Me­mo­rial Park, Jasper.
