For­mer UGA foot­ball player killed in car crash

ATHENS— A for­mer foot­ball walk-on for the Univer­sity of Ge­or­gia has died from in­juries he sus­tained in a car-truck col­li­sion near Madi­son.

JoshuaWil­lis, a 19 year-old from Amer­i­cus, died Mon­day af­ter he was air­lifted to At­lanta Med­i­cal Cen­ter.

Morgan County Coro­ner Adam Carter saidWil­lis was headed north on Ge­or­gia High­way 83 when his ve­hi­cle col­lided with a trac­tor-trailer truck that was be­lieved to be head­ing south.

Wil­lis was a long snap­per for Ge­or­gia on the 2006 team and was con­sid­er­ing re­turn­ing to the team this spring, ac­cord­ing to se­nior Jeff Hen­son, Ge­or­gia’s top long snap­per.

Wil­lis played at Sumter County High School, where his fa­ther, Carl, is on the foot­ball staff.
