Iris Ben­nett Cheshire

Mrs. Iris Ben­nett Cheshire, 84, of Jack­son died Feb. 9 in Ma­con. The daugh­ter of the late Ed­win Al­bert and Pearl Leggett Ben­nett, she was born in 1923 in Jack­sonville, Fla. She was pre­ceded in death by hus­band Melvin Stan­ley Cheshire and sis­ters Lois Wa­ters and Myr­tle Austin and brothers Roland Ben­nett and Ed Ben­nett. Mrs. Ben­nett was a mem­ber of the First Bap­tist Church of High Falls. She was re­tired from the South­ern Re­gional Hospi­tal as a sec­re­tary in the nurs­ing ser­vice.

Sur­viv­ing are sons and daugh­ters-in-law Ron­ald Cheshire and Mar­i­lyn of Jack­son, Don Cheshire and Jackie of Ox­ford; sis­ters Reba North, Clara Grim­s­ley, both of Jack­sonville, Caro­line Rein­hart of Ari­zona; grand­son Don­ald Cheshire; grand­daugh­ter Ann Cheshire, both of Greenville, S.C.

Funeral ser­vices will be at 4 p.m. Feb. 15 at the First Bap­tist Church at High Falls with the Rev. Jeff Gid­dens of­fi­ci­at­ing. En­tomb­ment will be at Ar­ling­ton Park Ceme­tery, Jack­sonville. Friends may visit the fam­ily at the church one hour prior to the ser­vice.
