Jessie Ed­wards Thomas

Mrs. Jessie Ed­wards Thomas, 90, of Cov­ing­ton, died Feb. 20 at Abbey Hospice. The son of the late Clarence Ed­wards and An­nie Sue Wheelis Ed­wards, she was born in 1917 in Union Point. She worked for 15 years as a book­keeper for H.M. Pat­ter­son & Son at Spring Street and Oglethrope Hill. She was the sec­re­tary­trea­surer for Thomas Brothers Hy­dro Inc. for 13 years. Mrs. Thomas was a mem­ber of Rain­bow Park Bap­tist Church, Decatur. She is pre­ceded in death by par­ents and hus­band Mr. Hoke Smith Thomas Sr.

Sur­viv­ing are sons Hoke Thomas Jr. of Cov­ing­ton, Charles Thomas of Gas­to­nia, N.C., Mike Thomas of Cov­ing­ton; daugh­ter Carol Collins of Cov­ing­ton; sis­ters Ethel Stone of Au­gusta, Vir­ginia Chan­nel of Car­rolton; eight grand­chil­dren; eight great-grand­chil­dren; nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews.

The fam­ily will re­ceive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to­day, Feb. 22. Grave­side ser­vices will be at 2 p.m. Satur­day, Feb. 23, at Wis­te­ria Ceme­tery, Union Point.
