The blight of Bradford pear trees

The Covington News - - Local News -

About 24 Bradford pear trees are due for removal from Farmington lane and will be replaced by Forest Pansy redbuds. According to City Forrester connie Head about 1,500 pear trees will be uprooted in Covington. Besides growing 35-40 feet ball (hindering power lines), they have a branching habit that makes them prone to storm damage. Their vigorous root system is capable of damaging sidewalks and sewer lines.
