Way­mon Lee Stapp Sr.,

Way­mon Lee Stapp Sr., 57, of Cov­ing­ton, died Feb. 24. A life­long res­i­dent of New­ton County, he was a self- em­ployed car­pen­ter for over 40 years and a man who en­joyed life’s sim­ple plea­sures. Mr. Stapp en­joyed fish­ing, watch­ing wrestling, yard work and play­ing base­ball with chil­dren. He is pre­ceded in death by daugh­ter Melissa Ann Stapp, mother Agnes John­son Stapp and brothers Er­win Ge­orge Stapp and Wil­lie Stapp.

Sur­viv­ing are sons Way­mon Stapp Jr. and Ti­mothy Lee Stapp, both of Cov­ing­ton; sis­ters and broth­ersin- law Kath­leen and Billy Hooper of So­cial Cir­cle, Marie and Danny Sim­mons of Mon­ti­cello; brothers and sis­ters- in- law Jessie Stapp, Johnny and Wanda Stapp, all of Cov­ing­ton, Dar­lene Stapp of Mansfield; sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

Funeral ser­vices will be held at 2 p. m. to­day, Feb. 27, in the Floyd Street chapel of Cald­well & Cowan. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Lawn­wood Me­mo­rial Park. Flow­ers are ac­cepted or a love of­fer­ing may be made to the fam­ily.
