Travis Mooney

Travis Mooney, 16, of Cov­ing­ton, passed away Feb. 26, af­ter fight­ing a coura­geous bat­tle against acute myel­o­ge­neous leukemia.

He was a ninth grade stu­dent of East­side High School and had at­tended Carver Mid­dle School in Mon­roe where he played the trum­pet in the band. Travis was a mem­ber of Cal­vary Bap­tist Church in Mon­roe and en­joyed driv­ing his truck and fish­ing. He never com­plained and was a coura­geous and lov­ing son, brother, un­cle and grand­son.

Sur­viv­ing are par­ents Ge­orge and Linda Mooney of Cov­ing­ton; sis­ters Brandi Gar­cia of Gainesville and An­d­rina Green of Cov­ing­ton; brothers Ge­orge Mooney Jr. of Cov­ing­ton, Clifford Mooney of Gainesville, Dylan Green of Cov­ing­ton, Bradley Mooney of Gran­ite Falls, N. C.; one niece and one nephew; grand­par­ents Reedie Keel­ing of Cov­ing­ton, Danny Keel­ing of Dick­son, Tenn., Loye and Shirley Tinkey of Wellsville, Ohio.

Funeral ser­vices will be held at 2 p. m. to­day, Feb. 29, in the Floyd Street chapel of Cald­well & Cowan with Pas­tor Brian Ar­mour of­fi­ci­at­ing. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends at the funeral home to­day from 10 a. m. to 1: 30 p. m. In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made to AFLAC Can­cer Cen­ter of Chil­dren’s Health­care of At­lanta, 1687 Tul­lie Cir­cle, At­lanta, GA 30329, or to Travis Mooney Fund, c/ o Athens Re­gional Bank.
