Hammonds named professional of year
Hygenist honored for dedication and leadership skills
Linda O. Hammond of Mansfield, a retired dental hygienist for Dr. Kenneth C. West of Blairsville, has been named Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of dental hygiene.
Hammond worked in the dental hygiene field for 28 years before retiring. She excelled in administering x-rays and preventative maintenance treatments and, most importantly, educating patients. She attributes her success and longevity in the industry to the fact she loved her work. Dr. West’s practice provides general dental services as well as cosmetic dentistry. Hammond received her associate of arts degree in dental hygiene from Clayton State University. Ham- mond was first exposed to dentistry while serving in the Women’s Army Corp from 1965 to 1968.
Hammond says dental hygiene was never a career to her ;it was a means to her livelihood and supporting her true career — her two daughters, Andrea and Heather. Her hobbies are gardening, which she loves with a passion, and crocheting. Her grandsons are the loves of her life — to them, she is Hootinanny. Her husband Johnny is retired. You can find him at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta during the Christmas season. He is a professional Santa Claus. Linda is now enjoying life at a slower pace and making memories with her grandsons.
