Ten reasons why you should wrestle

The Covington News - - Sports -

Wrestling has certainly witnessed three very productive years in Newton County.

Several middle schools have steadily paced the way by winning or finishing second in their area. In addition, all three county h igh school squads have end- ed strong in their respective areas and state tournaments.

Still, the only thing lacking is the participation from your sons.

Below are the top 10 reasons your young grapplers should be wrestling this year: • There have been many boys to come out in the first season and not only have a winning record but even place in his area or state tournament. •

You need to be able to hand fight to play line or linebacker in football, and nothing works more on hand fighting and body positioning than wrestling. And the good thing is that the season does not interfere with football, cross country, track, golf, soccer or baseball. •

Wrestlers also need a lot of conditioning and low body fats, so they complete many miles of road work which is great for other sports like soccer, cross country and track. •

There are very few injuries in our sport because you compete by weight class.
