Gary La­mar Jones

Mr. Gary La­mar Jones died March 30. The son of Doris Jones and Gary Thompson, he was born in 1979 in Vineland, N. J. Af­fec­tion­ately called “ G,” Mr. Jones was raised and ed­u­cated in Rosen­hayn, N. J., grad­u­at­ing from Cum­ber­land Re­gional High School. He played both bas­ket­ball and foot­ball dur­ing high school. He at­tended Cum­ber­land Col­lege and Rowan Col­lege, ma­jor­ing in busi­ness ad­min­is­tra­tion. He be­came a model for Jo An­der­son Mod­els and Tal­ent Agency, N. J. He worked for the Salem County El­e­men­tary School as a teacher’s as­sis­tant and for the Cere­bral Palsy Agency. He moved to Cov­ing­ton and worked as a cor­rec­tions of­fi­cer at Jack­son Prison. He was cur­rently em­ployed by Red Lob­ster, Cony­ers. He was a faith­ful mem­ber of Spring­field Bap­tist Church and par­tic­i­pated in the church choir and the sin­gle’s min­istry. Mr. Jones was an ama­teur boxer, had a good sense of hu­mor and was en­cour­ag­ing to oth­ers, pro­mot­ing the gospel. He will be re­mem­bered for his smile, per­son­al­ity and great hugs.

Sur­viv­ing are mother Ms. Doris Jones; fa­ther Mr. Joseph Gary Thompson; brothers Joseph Jones, Ter­rance Jones, Shar­rod Jones, Le­quint Allen, Alex Carter, An­toine Thompson; sis­ters Alexis Carter, Trini­tee Thompson; grand­par­ents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur ( An­nie) Samp­son, Mr. and Mrs. Ken­neth ( Al­berta Thompson) Pierce, Mr. Gary Thompson; great- grand­moth­ers Mrs. Sarah Mae Samp­son, Mrs. Annabelle Scar­brough; aunts Aretha ( Alex) Moses, Stephanie ( David) Chan­nell, Sarah Thompson; un­cles Ja­cob Thompson, Steven Thompson; two nieces; one nephew; best friends Alvin and Destin; other lov­ing rel­a­tives and dear friends.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice was held at 7 p. m. April 3 at Spring Bap­tist Church with Pas­tor Eric W. Lee Sr. of­fi­ci­at­ing. Funeral ser­vices were held in Bridgeton, N. J., April 5 with the Rev. Eric W. Lee Sr. of­fi­ci­at­ing.
