Id­abelle Blan­ton King

Id­abelle Blan­ton King, 82, a life­long res­i­dent of West New­ton County, died April 11. Mrs. King was a stay-at-home mom, re­sign­ing her job at the birth of her first child.

She was very ac­tive in the Bethany Pres­by­te­rian Church at Liv­ingston School, where her two chil­dren at­tended. King taught the chil­dren’s class for 20 years and taught in vacation bi­ble school dur­ing that same pe­riod. She served as sec­re­tary-trea­surer for the Pres­by­te­rian Women at Bethany for 15 years. She was pre­sented with the Pres­by­te­rian Women Life Mem­ber­ship Award in 2000.

She is sur­vived by hus­band, Robert (Bob) King—they re­cently cel­e­brated their 50th wed­ding an­niver­sary—daugh­ter and son-in-law, Bar­bara and Don­ald Smith of Cov­ing­ton and son and daugh­ter-in-law, Jim and Vickie King of Al­pharetta; four grand­chil­dren, Jes­sica Smith, Katie Smith, Turner King and Madi­son King.

Funeral ser­vices for Mrs. King will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sun­day, April 13 at Bethany Pres­by­te­rian Church, 1002 Bethany Road, Cov­ing­ton with the Rev. Rus­sell O. McKee of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial will fol­low at the Bethany Ceme­tery. Flow­ers will be ac­cepted or con­tri­bu­tions can be made in her me­mory to Bethany Pres­by­te­rian Church or to Heart­land Hospice, 1374 Manch­ester Drive, Cony­ers, Ga. 30012.
