Auxiliary gala scheduled
Event proceeds support Women’s Diagnostic Center
Patrons, community members and friends are invited to gather for an evening of dining, dancing and a live auction at the Newton Medial Center Auxiliary’s Annual Spring Gala beginning at 6:30 p. m. April 26 at Willoaks estate.
“An Evening to Remember,” the evening will include a plantation-style buffet dinner, catered by Lee Epting of Athens, followed by a live auction and entertainment by the Moon Dance Band.
Auction items feature packages such as cocktail parties, vacation homes from Florida to Puerto Rico, paintings from local artists and many more packages from local businesses.
All proceeds will go towards the purchase of digital mammography equipment for the Women’s Diagnostic Center at Newton Medical Center, which has recently been installed at the center.
“We always look forward to this event,” said Michelle Green, NMC Auxiliary fundraising chair. “It is wonderful to see the community come together and support Newton Medical Center Auxiliary’s
Cloud nine: fundraising efforts for digital mammography equipment.”
The new technology will transfer a higher quality image to a computer that can be magnified, lightened and darkened to give the radiologists a more detailed analysis of the breast.
Currently, only 11 percent of the facilities performing mammograms in the United States have been able to make this important transition to digital imaging.
This year’s Gala is one of several events to be sponsored by the Auxiliary to raise $500,000 for the newest innovation in imaging.
Willoaks is the 100- acre country estate of Esther Williams. Its name is derived from a combination of “Williams” and the beautiful Willow Oaks which line the front entrance to the home.
A one mile drive leads guests to the French Mansard designed home overlooking Lake Varner. An 1840’s log home moved from Shelby County Tennessee is also situated on the property and will be open for touring.
Gala tickets are currently on sale at a cost of $90 per person. Sponsorships are also available starting at $500. Any questions and all ticket sales are being handled through the Volunteer Services Office at 5126 Hospital Drive in Covington, (770) 788-6553.
