Cheerios Challenge slated for Saturday

The Covington Family YMCA annual Cheerios Challenge, which includes the 10K/5K Road Race and 1 Mile Fun Run, is Saturday.
The 10K begins at 7:45 a.m., while the 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 9 a.m. followed by the 5K at 9:30 a.m. Race day registration is $20. Awards will be given in each standard age group at the end of each race. In addition, there will be a $100 cash prize awarded to the first male and female to break the course record in the 10K and 5K (10K Record M:

GOLF Eastside High sweeps Loganville in region play
COVINGTON — On Tuesday, the Eastside High golf teams swept Loganville at Indian Creek Golf Club.
In boys action, the Eagles won 157-186, improving to 17- 1 overall on the year.
Leading the way for Eastside were Taylor Smith (36), Tate Miller (37) and Nick Green (41). Ace Cook, J.T. Blaker and Taylor Lazenby each shot a 43.
Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles were victorious, 106-111.
Eastside’s Maggie Smith led with a 50, while Illysa Johnson had a 56. Jessie Lindsey shot a 62, followed by Madison Rainer (68).
Oxford College Golf Classic
The Oxford College Athletics Golf Classic will be held at 1 p.m. (shotgun start) on Monday at The Oaks Course.
The event is dedicated to the 2007 National Champion Oxford men’s tennis team.
The format is four-person scramble, and the cost is $90 per golfer. In addition, there will be several contests (putting, longest drive and closest to pin), including lunch, dinner and a prize raffle.
All proceeds will directly benefit the Oxford College Athletics Department.
