September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. We would like to commend the Newton Medical Center for providing an easy, low-cost test for prostate cancer.

Prostate Cancer is the most common form of cancer found in men other than skin cancer. This cancer is a devastating killer if left unchecked. According to the American Cancer Society, there were 18,632 reports of new cases of prostate cancer in the United States this past year; approximately 28,660 men will die this year because of this disease.

It is recommended that men 45 and older be tested every year, especially if there has been a history of this cancer in their family.

Today, a simple blood test can detect this cancer. For only $15 you can stop by the Knox Surgical Center located at 5126 Hospital Drive and have this shot given. You may want to check with your doctor first.

We urge you if you are age 45 or older please take a fewminutes to have a prostate exam; we don’t want any of you to be a statistic.
