Tyger, Hooten lead Oxford to 3-0 week
Taylor Tyger had a pair of goals and Jenna Joyave buried a 35-yard direct kick from a wide position in the ninth minute of the first overtime to lift the Lady Eagles over Georgia Perimeter College in Clarkston.
Tyger brought Oxford (4-1) back from an early 1-0 deficit to score two first half goals against the host team. Erica Green played Tyger right through the center of the Ga. Perimeter defense midway through the first half for an 18-yard strike and Katie Phillips played Tyger almost an identical ball that she slipped past the Ga. Perimeter goalkeeper at close range for the 2-1 lead going into halftime.
Following the break, Ga. Perimeter applied pressure throughout most of the second half and was awarded a penalty kick for its efforts at the 70-minute mark. The Lady Jaguars converted the chance and evened the score at 2-2.
Both teams went back and forth and created chances in the last 20 minutes, but neither team could manage the winning goal that they needed.
Oxford opened the first 10-minute golden goal period by attacking the Ga. Perimeter defense with an adjusted threeforward system. In the fifth minute of the extra period, Arielle Hayden served a ball across to Phillips who blasted a 20-yard shot that just missed the far upper ninety for the win.
Minutes later, an Oxford player was fouled on the touch line, 35 yards from
the Perimeter goal.
Joyave delivered the final blow when she drilled a ball just under the cross bar for the victory. Hooten scores 5 in win over delaware tech
