Newton County Sheriff’s deputies were called in to assist Jasper County with a vehicle pursuit, which reached speeds of more than 115 mph early Sunday morning.

According to reports, NCSO deputies joined the chase at Ga. highways 142 and 11, where the vehicle was spotted coming through the intersection without stopping and turning into the Pony Express service station. The driver went through the parking lot and came back out onto Ga. Highway 11 heading south towards Mansfield and traveling at 115 mph in an area where the speed limit is half that speed.

The driver allegedly turned his vehicle left onto Carmel Church Road, nearly striking a telephone pole near the intersection. The driver then reportedly ran the stop sign at the intersection of Carmel Church and Hays Pond roads and continued straight on Carmel Church. He failed to make a curve to the right and allegedly ended up in the front yard of a home.
