Driver of vehicle charged in death
A single car accident claimed the life of a Louisiana man early Monday morning and landed the driver in jail, charged with homicide by vehicle.
According to reports from the Georgia State Patrol, a vehicle was traveling down Kirkland Road at approximately 2:15 a.m. Monday when the driver, 21year-old Wilford Brandon Williams
reportedly left the roadway, striking a mailbox then a utility pole.
The passenger, 21-year-old Joshua Billups, of Monroe , La. was ejected from the vehicle, according to GSP, and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Williams was arrested and charged with no seat belts, homicide by vehicle in the first degree, improper lane usage and DUI first offense.
According to a family member of the deceased, Billups was buried Saturday on what would have been his 22nd birthday.
