Wheeler Fu­neral Home & Cre­ma­tory Mr. James W. Gordy, 80, of Cov­ing­ton, for­merly of DeKalb County, died Sept. 18. The son of the late James Raleigh and Ulma El­lis Gordy, he was born in Bul­loch County in 1927. Mr. Gordy served in the United States Navy dur­ing World War II and was a mem­ber of the Amer­i­can Le­gion and VFW. He owned and op­er­ated Gordy Tile Com­pany for many years.

Sur­viv­ing are wife Mrs. Blanche Gordy; chil­dren Cyn­thia and Robert Teal of Jasper, Steven R. and Diana Gordy of Cov­ing­ton, Pa­tri­cia and Paul Roach of Lo­ganville, James Alan and Teresa Gordy of Cony­ers; brother Mr. Ru­fus L. Gordy of Snel­lville; grand­chil­dren Drew, Travis, Krista, Jenny, Stephanie, Sean, Tori, Lexi, Mike, Ricky, Robby, Paul, Casey, Kris­ten; four great- grand­chil­dren; sev­eral nieces, neph­ews, other fam­ily and close friends.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be held at 2 p.m. to­day, Sept. 21, in the chapel of Wheeler Fu­neral Home with the Rev. Ron Comp­ton of­fi­ci­at­ing. En­tomb­ment will fol­low at Lawn­wood Memo­rial Park.
