Por­terdale to hold city-wide re­union

The Friends of Por­terdale, city of Por­terdale and Por­terdale Woman’s Club in­vite every­one to at­tend the 2008 Por­terdale Re­union/ Fes­ti­val which will be held Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. un­til 5 p.m. in the city of Por­terdale.

Every­one is in­vited to “come cross the bridge from the past to the fu­ture and help Por­terdale come alive again,” by re­new­ing old friend­ships, mak­ing and meet­ing new friends, en­joy­ing food, arts and crafts and ac­tiv­i­ties for chil­dren and bring­ing their Por­terdale mem­o­ra­bilia for every­one to see.

It is not re­quired that at­ten­dees be past or present res­i­dents of Por­terdale to at­tend. Every­one is in­vited to come and see what is hap­pen­ing in the Mill Vil­lage. Regis­tra­tion be­gins at 10 a.m. in front of the Mill Lofts.

From 10 a.m. un­til 2 p.m. Dar­rell Huck­aby will au­to­graph his new book “A South­erner Looks at all 50.”

Memo­rial bricks will be in place in the al­ley­way be­tween the two old store build­ings thanks to “ Homes by the Hills.”

Smi­ley’s, Jimbo’s, Baby Cakes, Tat­ter­salls at the Mill, The Por­terdale Seafood Mar- ket, CorkPop­pers and the Bar­ber Shop will all be open for busi­ness.
