Turnovers, lack of offense spell disaster in 56-0 loss to MLK

The Newton Rams suffered a devastating 56-0 beating from the visiting Martin Luther King Jr. Lions Friday at Sharp Stadium.

M.L. King (5-1 overall, 3-0 Region 2-AAAAA) did everything to lose, but the Ram offense didn’t do anything to win as they were looking to post a .500 record at the midpoint of the season.

M.L. King won the toss, but selected to give Newton (2-4, 1-2) the first crack on offense and deferred until the second half.

Newton started its first possession from its own 20-yard line but couldn’t get a first down as M.L. King’s defense held them for three downs deep in Ram territory.
