Porterdale council member resigns
Cites health and stress reasons
Porterdale city council member Kay Piper resigned Thursday night, citing health issues that are exacerbated by stress.
According to Mayor Bobby Hamby, Piper’s announcement was a surprise, though he said he knew her health issues had been getting worse. He also acknowledged Piper’s expertise in finance and the help she has tried to give the city recently on getting a handle on “what our real financial picture is.”
“I think [Piper’s resignation] is a tremendous loss to the council,” said Hamby. “She brought a lot of experience and knowledge to the council and it is a huge loss.”
