“ We ask that peo­ple ob­serve Hal­loween with oth­ers who want to par­tic­i­pate,” Ni­chols said. “ There are a lot of peo­ple who don’t en­ter into the hol­i­day and we ask oth­ers to re­spect their opin­ion and right to not ob­serve it.”

Covington Po­lice Chief Stacey Cot­ton said the CPD of­fi­cers will be fo­cus­ing pa­trol on the ar­eas that tra­di­tion­ally have a lot of foot traf­fic, such as the square and Floyd Street.

“ We just ask that peo­ple be cau­tious and not as­sume peo­ple driv­ing will see you and stop. Also, we urge trick- or- treaters to try and carry a light to make them­selves more vis­i­ble,” Cot­ton said. “ We also ask the mo­tor pub­lic to re­mem­ber small chil­dren may not al­ways re­mem­ber to watch f o r cars.”
