Veterans Memorial Middle School won its third straight NewRock football championship Wednesday with a 28-12 victory over Ray Davis at Evans Memorial Stadium.

Darius Dean and Cornell White combined to rush for four touchdowns to power the Generals to its third consecutive title.

“We had a great year,” head coach Jim Puckett said. “The key to our success was preparation. Our kids have worked so hard this year each week for our next game.”

The win gives Veterans bragging rights for yet another year. It also gives the Generals two undefeated season in their last three years.

“Winning our third straight championship is very special because we've worked so hard to build a winning program here with tradition and respect,” Puckett said. “We do things the right way here at Veterans. We hold all of our athletes to a very high standard of conduct, academic performance and respect for themselves and their teachers. Our football program is modeled around that foundation.”

Puckett said he relies on help from a group of dedicated individuals including his staff. At the middle school level, coaches often have to rely on volun-
