United Bank

Customers looking for a hometown bank with a hometown feel find what they need at United Bank in Covington.

“When you come to United Bank, you feel like you’re walking into someone’s home instead of walking into a cold institution,” said Reed Beard, president. “We are always courteous and respectful, and we try to go out of our way to offer our customers service that exceeds their expectations. That’s one of our mission statements.”

Chartered in the 1905 as the Bank of Zebulon in Zebulon, a small town south of Griffin in Pike County, United Bank is a family-owned, privately heldcompany with 15 locations throughout Georgia.

“We are now in our third generation of ownership and there are still several of the family members who are involved in the dayto-day operations of the bank,” said Beard.

In 2007, United Bank opened two locations in Covington. Covington’s main branch is located just off the Covington square, with a satellite location inside the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Industrial Boulevard.

“In Covington, we are attempting to continue the legacy of a true hometown bank where people know you when you walk in the door and you’re known by your name rather than a number,” Beard said.

United Bank offers customers a variety of banking products including traditional checking and savings accounts, CDs, consumers and business loans, home mortgages and investment and trust services. Beard said, how- ever, they are most proud of the service they deliver to their customers everyday.

“We offer special things to our customers by giving them excellent customer service,” said Beard. “We try to go above and beyond our customer’s expectations.”

Operating hours for the main office in Covington are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. – noon. Operating hours for Wal-Mart location are Monday – Friday, 10 a.m.
