TOY GUN

The Covington News - - Local news -

According to Mitchell, the student was taken into custody, processed as a juvenile offender and then released to his mother.

Newton County School System’s spokesperson Sherri Viniard confirmed the student did carry the toy on the bus and said the action violates the school system’s code of conduct.

“…Student safety is our primary concern and although this was a toy gun, it is still a very serious offense and it is a violation of school rules. We will not tolerate weapons of any kind on school property,” Viniard said.

As a result of this incident, the student could face disciplinary action from the school.
