C.R. Bard do­nates $4,000 to DeKalb Tech­ni­cal Col­lege

C.R. Bard Inc. do­nated a $4,000 grant to DeKalb Tech­ni­cal col­lege Busi­ness Of­fice Tech­nol­ogy pro­gram at the Cov­ing­ton Cam­pus for cur­ricu­lum up­grades.

Liz All­good, a 1998 grad­u­ate of the Busi­ness Of­fice Tech­nol­ogy diploma pro­gram at DeKalb Tech, knew that her em­ployer C. R. Bard Inc. through their foun­da­tion sup­ported higher ed­u­ca­tion and highly skilled em­ploy­ees. “Liz was in­stru­men­tal in help­ing us to ob­tain this grant from Bard‘s cor­po­rate foun­da­tion,” said Mary Rus­sell pro­gram in­struc­tor and ad­viser for Ms. All­good’s class.

Up­dated cur­ric­ula are de­signed to sat­isfy in­creas­ing de­mands for skilled ad­min­is­tra­tive as­sis­tants. The equip­ment pro­vided through this grant specif­i­cally sup­ports cur­ricu­lum up­grades that lead to im­prove­ments in stu­dents’ busi­ness English and oral com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, pre­sen­ta­tion and vis­ual com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, and desk­top pub­lish­ing and tech­nol­ogy skills.

“The tools and equip­ment pro­vided through this grant, in­clud­ing a dig­i­tal cam­era, cam­corder, scan­ner, DVD player and recorders and col­ored printer, will en­able stu­dents to learn bet­ter com­mu­ni­ca­tions skills as well as desk­top pub­lish­ing and elec­tronic com­mu­ni­ca­tions that re­flect up-to-date in­dus­try qual­ity stan­dards and the de­mands of to­day’s work­place,” said DeKalb Tech­ni­cal Col­lege Pres­i­dent Dr. Robin Hoff­man. “We ap­pre­ci­ate the sup­port of C. R. Bard, Inc.”
