Hon­or­ing those who serve: Dozens of vet­er­ans and Newton County res­i­dents crowded the square Thurs­day morn­ing to pay trib­ute to vet­er­ans past and present at the an­nual Vet­er­ans Day me­mo­rial. Mem­bers of the Newton High School ROTC pre­sented the col­ors and the East­side High School Band played a va­ri­ety of pa­tri­otic mu­sic dur­ing the pre­sen­ta­tion.
