Indian Creek, Oaks tee off for Covington Cup
Teams made up of members of Indian Creek Golf Club and The Oaks Course will again face off in the Covington Cup this weekend.
Twelve-member teams play head-to-head in two rounds of Ryder Cup format golf. Round one will be Saturday at Indian Creek with Sunday's final round at The Oaks.
Indian Creek is the defending champ and is yet to lose the Cup in the first two years. Indian Creek won it19.5 to 4.5.
A lot of veterans litter each team.Indian Creek's team will consist of Stephen Hall, Alcovy golfer Matt Moore, Frank Webster, Joe Grady, Mike Lott, Keith Firsher, Matt Vaughn, Shane Millwood, Michael Shaffer, Tony Dowdy, Mark Guntrope and Eastside phenom Tate Miller. Marshall Moore will be the alternate.
The Oaks has plenty of golfers back too. Club Champ and Newton basketball coach Rick Rasmussen leads the group which also consists of former Club Champ Randy Eaton, net champ Scott Pruitt and senior champ Joel Crissman. Richard Shue, Paul Hackett, Joe Pittman, Phillip Lehman, Bob Britton, Dick Shulz, Taylor Lazenby and Bob Creager round out The Oaks team. Mike Smith and Eric Schrepple are alternates.
