Busi­ness Women’s As­so­ci­a­tion an­nounces schol­ar­ship

A col­lege schol­ar­ship up to $1,500 will be funded by the New-Roc Char­ter Chap­ter 1411 of the Amer­i­can Busi­ness Women’s As­so­ci­a­tion through the Stephen Bufton Me­mo­rial Ed­u­ca­tion Fund.

Schol­ar­ship can­di­dates must meet the fol­low­ing cri­te­ria:

- A Newton or Rock­dale County res­i­dent

- A ju­nior class stand­ing or higher at an ac­cred­ited col­lege or uni­ver­sity in Au­gust 2011

- Will be at­tend­ing an ac­cred­ited col­lege or uni­ver­sity seek­ing a bac­calau­re­ate de­gree or higher

- Must have achieved a grade point av­er­age GPA or 3.0 or bet­ter on a 4.0 scale.

Ap­pli­ca­tions are due to New-Roc Char­ter Chap­ter or the Amer­i­can Busi­ness Women’s As­so­ci­a­tion by March 1. The win­ner will be no­ti­fied and asked to at- tend a chap­ter meet­ing. A check will be is­sued made payable to the ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tion. Funds are limited to tu­ition, books and fees.

The New-Roc Char­ter Chap­ter of ABWA is part of a na­tional net­work of busi­ness­women that pro­vides busi­ness skills train­ing and net­work­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for women of di­verse oc­cu­pa­tions to en­hance ca­reer ad­vance­ment and per­sonal devel­op­ment.
