Mar­garet Skel­ton Cald­well & Cowan Fu­neral Home

Miss Mar­garet Skel­ton, 82, of Cony­ers passed away at Rock­dale Med­i­cal Cen­ter on Jan. 24. The daugh­ter of D. C. “Bill” and Dolly (Ramey) Skel­ton, she was born in Cov­ing­ton and was em­ployed by Cov­ing­ton Mill and Bibb Man­u­fac­tur­ing for many years. Miss Skel­ton was known as “care­taker” by her fam­ily mem­bers as she raised her sib­lings af­ter the pass­ing of her mother and was also known as grand­mother by her nieces and neph­ews. She was known as “Squiney” which evolved into “Nenny” and was ev­ery­one’s an­gel. Her spe­cialty was mak­ing bis­cuits for her fam­ily and friends. She was of the Bap­tist faith, at­tended Christ in You Fel­low­ship Church in Doerun and loved lis­ten­ing to gospel mu­sic and read­ing her Bi­ble. Miss Skel­ton loved fam­ily re­unions in north­ern Ge­or­gia and en­joyed the beach in Panama City Fla., where she resided with her niece Miki Skel­ton-Walden. She is pre­ceded in death by broth­ers Sylvester, Her­man, Burl and an in­fant brother.

Sur­viv­ing are broth- ers and sis­ters-in-law Earl and Eve­lyn Skel­ton of Villa Rica, Floyd and Mary Skel­ton of New­born; sis­ters and broth­erin-law Hol­lis and Peggy Mor­ris, Faye Ricks all of Cony­ers; un­cle Vir­gil Ramey of Easley, S.C.; nu­mer­ous nieces, neph­ews; great-nieces and great­nephews.

Fu­neral ser­vices were held Jan. 27 at the Floyd Street chapel of Cald­well & Cowan with the Rev. Roy Ivey of­fi­ci­at­ing and in­ter­ment fol­low­ing in Corinth Me­mo­rial Gar­dens in Lo­ganville.
