Lo­cal as­tropho­tog­ra­pher shares pics

So­cial Cir­cle res­i­dent Theo Ra­maker has his eyes fo­cused sky­ward.

He’s an as­tropho­tog­ra­pher and he’s set to share some of his im­ages at an event set for Satur­day, Feb. 5, at the Char­lie El­liott Wildlife Vis­i­tors Cen­ter off Ga. High­way 11 south of Mans­field.

Ra­maker will share his im­ages in­clud­ing pho­tos of deep sky neb­ula and gal­ax­ies, plan­ets and the sun, and of nat­u­ral and man-made satel­lites at the Char­lie El­liott chap­ter As­tron­omy Club meet­ing.

At 3 p.m. on Feb. 5, he will dis­cuss un­usual ce­les­tial ob­jects and events and will share tips on how to take your own im­ages of as­tro­nom­i­cal ob­jects.

That night, the club will present “Cur­rent Events in As­tron­omy & Space Ex­plo­ration” and “Ob­serv­ing 101” with graph­ics and other vi­su­als of com­ing ce­les­tial events, in­clud­ing sky lo­ca­tions of cur­rently vis­i­ble plan­ets, comets and other sky phe­nom­ena.

An evening of ce­les­tial ob­ser­va­tion will fol­low, weather per­mit­ting. You can ei­ther bring your own te­le­scope or view through the tele­scopes of club mem­bers.

The as­tron­omy club meets monthly at the wildlife vis­i­tors cen­ter, 543 El­liott Trail in Mans­field, about 10 miles south of I-20 Exit 98.
