Reneé Meadors Hansen, 56, of Watkinsville, passed away June 28, at her mother’s home after a long illness. Reneé was born in Atlanta and grew up in Covington. She graduated from Newton County High School and continued her education at the University of Georgia where she earned a bach- elor’s degree in interior design. She thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Conyers and was also active at the First United Methodist Church in Athens as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her father Jack Lee Meadors Sr.
Surviving are her hus- band Chris Hansen; daughters and son-in-law Libby Hansen, Laura and Chris Koch; mother and step-father Beth Meadors and James Hutchins; sisters and brothers-in-law Karen and Danny Miller, Elizabeth and Rod Giannace; brother and sis- ter-in-law Lee and Joy Meadors; nieces Maria Meadors, Lindsey Miller, Caroline Meadors, Anne Marie Giannace; nephews Jack Meadors, Justin Giannace.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, at Covington First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath and the Rev. David Moore officiating, and interment following in Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, from 6 to 9 p.m. today, July 1.
