Reneé Meadors Hansen, 56, of Watkinsville, passed away June 28, at her mother’s home af­ter a long ill­ness. Reneé was born in Atlanta and grew up in Cov­ing­ton. She grad­u­ated from New­ton County High School and con­tin­ued her ed­u­ca­tion at the Univer­sity of Ge­or­gia where she earned a bach- elor’s de­gree in in­te­rior de­sign. She thor­oughly en­joyed be­ing a mem­ber of the Al­pha Omi­cron Pi soror­ity. She was an ac­tive mem­ber of the First United Methodist Church in Cony­ers and was also ac­tive at the First United Methodist Church in Athens as her health per­mit­ted. She was pre­ceded in death by her fa­ther Jack Lee Meadors Sr.

Sur­viv­ing are her hus- band Chris Hansen; daugh­ters and son-in-law Libby Hansen, Laura and Chris Koch; mother and step-fa­ther Beth Meadors and James Hutchins; sis­ters and brothers-in-law Karen and Danny Miller, El­iz­a­beth and Rod Gian­nace; brother and sis- ter-in-law Lee and Joy Meadors; nieces Maria Meadors, Lind­sey Miller, Caro­line Meadors, Anne Marie Gian­nace; neph­ews Jack Meadors, Justin Gian­nace.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be held at 11 a.m. Satur­day, July 2, at Cov­ing­ton First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Dou­glas Gil­reath and the Rev. David Moore of­fi­ci­at­ing, and in­ter­ment fol­low­ing in Cov­ing­ton City Ceme­tery. The fam­ily will re­ceive friends at Cald­well & Cowan Fu­neral Home, 1215 Ac­cess Road, in Cov­ing­ton, from 6 to 9 p.m. to­day, July 1. Flow­ers are ac­cepted, or do­na­tions may be made to the Mesothe­lioma Ap­plied Re­search Foun­da­tion, 1317 King Street, Alexan­dria, VA 22314.
