John Harold “Andy” An­der­son Jr., of Ox­ford, passed away June 30 at New­ton Med­i­cal Cen­ter. He was 76 years old at the time of his death. Mr. An­der­son, af­fec­tion­ately known as Buck, en­joyed be­ing a “Ride-Along” with the New­ton County Sher­iff’s Depart­ment. He also en­joyed fam­ily karaoke, as well as col­lect­ing guns and art. Mr. An­der­son had a won­der­ful sense of hu­mor and will be re­mem­bered as a lov­ing and de­voted hus­band, fa­ther, grand­fa­ther, great-grand­fa­ther, brother and friend. Mr. An­der­son was pre­ceded in death by his wife, Donna Ann (Trump) An­der­son and par­ents John Harold An­der­son Sr. and Lois Marie An­der­son Tap­ley and great-grand­son Jack­son Kirkus.

Mr. An­der­son is sur­vived by his daugh­ters and sons-in-law Deb­o­rah An­der­son, Ch­eryl and David John­son, Pamela and Dean Mayo, Laura and Jim Brown, all of Cov­ing­ton; step sons Brad Slane and wife Karen of Cony­ers, James Slane and wife Toni of Ar­ling­ton, Texas, Michael Slane and wife Karen of He­lena, Ala; grand­chil­dren David and Troup Kirkus, An­gela Wilde, Cyn­thia and Trent Whit­ley, Ta­mara Hinson, Tabatha Os­born, Tony Floyd, Wes­ley and Justin Mayo, Jimmy Brown, Tif­fany Boyd, Cameron, Con­ner, Kayla, Gabriel and Jimmy Slane; 19 great-grand­chil­dren; brother Ron­ald An­der­son of Cony­ers; sis­ter Elea- nor “Bill” Atch­e­son of Stone Moun­tain; as well as sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

Fu­neral Ser­vices for Mr. An­der­son will be held at 3 p.m to­day at Bel­mont Bap­tist Church with Pas­tor Nolan Jack­son of­fi­ci­at­ing, and in­ter­ment fol­low­ing in Ox­ford His­tor­i­cal Ceme­tery. Flow­ers are ac­cepted or me­mo­rial do­na­tions may be made to New­ton County Sher­iff’s Depart­ment.
