Porterdale is set to start its July 4 celebration at 3 p. m. Monday with vendors and children’s activities.
From 5 p. m. to 9 p. m., the Shane Millwood Band will be playing before the fireworks start. The fireworks display can be viewed from the Depot.
“ They are really trying to outdo last year,” said customer service representative Martha Cain. “ They really do a good show.”
Oxford will be hosting its annual parade the morning of July 4, starting at 10 a. m.
Community members who would like to be in the parade should come sign in by 9: 30 a. m.
“All you have to do is just get in line and march,” said Tereta Johnson, treasurer and secretary of Oxford.
Although the parade happens every year, there is still room for making this year’s parade unique.
“ The newest members of the administration are really trying to liven things up this time,” Johnson said.
Social Circle will host a variety of activities for Independence Day. There will be a parade and car show, and the celebration will culminate in a fireworks display.
