Por­terdale is set to start its July 4 cel­e­bra­tion at 3 p. m. Mon­day with ven­dors and chil­dren’s ac­tiv­i­ties.

From 5 p. m. to 9 p. m., the Shane Mill­wood Band will be play­ing be­fore the fire­works start. The fire­works dis­play can be viewed from the De­pot.

“ They are re­ally try­ing to outdo last year,” said cus­tomer ser­vice rep­re­sen­ta­tive Martha Cain. “ They re­ally do a good show.”


Ox­ford will be host­ing its an­nual pa­rade the morn­ing of July 4, start­ing at 10 a. m.

Com­mu­nity mem­bers who would like to be in the pa­rade should come sign in by 9: 30 a. m.

“All you have to do is just get in line and march,” said Tereta John­son, trea­surer and sec­re­tary of Ox­ford.

Al­though the pa­rade hap­pens ev­ery year, there is still room for mak­ing this year’s pa­rade unique.

“ The new­est mem­bers of the ad­min­is­tra­tion are re­ally try­ing to liven things up this time,” John­son said.


So­cial Cir­cle will host a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties for In­de­pen­dence Day. There will be a pa­rade and car show, and the cel­e­bra­tion will cul­mi­nate in a fire­works dis­play.
