Wil­liams elected to GMA di­rec­tor's board

Cov­ing­ton City Coun­cil­woman Hawnethia Wil­liams was elected to the Board of Direc­tors for the Ge­or­gia Mu­nic­i­pal As­so­ci­a­tion dur­ing the as­so­ci­a­tion’s an­nual meet­ing in Sa­van­nah June 27.

She will serve as first vice pres­i­dent of GMA’s 5th District, which in­cludes the coun­ties of Jack­son, Madi­son, El­bert, Bar­row, Clarke, Oglethorpe, Mor­gan, Greene, New­ton, Jasper, Wal­ton and Oconee.

“We are pleased to have Coun­cilmem­ber Wil­liams tak­ing on this lead­er­ship po­si­tion,” said Jim Hig­don, the ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the mu­nic­i­pal as­so­ci­a­tion. “She’s well re­spected by her col­leagues, and I’m sure she’ll pro­vide great lead­er­ship to the cities in her district.”

The At­lantabased mu­nic­i­pal as­so­ci­a­tion is a vol­un­tary, non-profit or­ga­ni­za­tion that pro­vides leg­isla­tive ad­vo­cacy, ed­u­ca­tional, em­ployee ben­e­fit and tech­ni­cal as­sis­tance ser­vices to its 500 mem­ber cities.
