Miss Mary Bo Strozier, Bride-Elect, Hon­ored

As­sist­ing in serv­ing were Miss Ellen Weaver wear­ing a chick lace and taffeta model in sand, Miss Martha Pon­der wear­ing a cloud yel­low for­mal with flo­ral em­broi­dery in white and Miss Von­cile All­good in an aqua silk sheath with match­ing pumps.

Cov­ing­ton Pony League All–Stars roll

Stand­outs for the team are Timmy Hy­ers, Reg­gie Bell, Gaberial White, Jamie Cog­gins, Jay Cawthon and Dwayne Marks. The team is coached by Luke Odum.

Wim­berly shines

Cov­ing­ton’s Duchess Wim­berly won the 13-14 year old Pen­tathlon in Greens­boro, N.C., with a score of 2024 points. Van Wim­berly also com­peted, fin­ish­ing sixth in the boys De­cathlon with 4948 points.

New­ton’s English se­lected as one of state’s best

At 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, New­ton’s Calvin English ruled the gridiron with an iron fist. He has been se­lected to com­pete in the Ge­or­gia Ath­letic coaches As­soica­ton North-South All-Star Foot­ball Game.

In­de­pen­dence on the Square

Linda Hayes, Carolyn Wil­son and Hayes Wil­son won first place for their award win­ning ta­ble “Show­ers, Stars and Stripes.”
