Teen ar­rested af­ter shov­ing 6- year- old

A 19-year-old woman was ar­rested Mon­day evening af­ter she al­legedly shoved a 6-yearold.

Ac­cord­ing to a Cov- in­g­ton Po­lice Depart­ment re­port, of­fi­cers were called to a home on Oak Street by the child’s mother, who told them that a neigh­bor, 19-year-old Juanita J. Fladger, had as­saulted her son.

The child’s mother told of­fi­cers that the boy and Fladger had ar­gued and that Fladger h a d grabbed the child by the shirt and thrown him to the ground. The of­fi­cer’s re­port noted that the child’s shirt was torn and stretched and that there was mud on his arm.

Fladger told of­fi­cers that the boy was curs­ing at her and that when she grabbed him by the shirt he tried to kick her and fell.

Of­fi­cers were at­tempt­ing to ex­plain to Fladger that her ac­tions were in vi­o­la­tion of the law and she be­came “ un­co­op­er­a­tive and slightly ag­gres­sive by try­ing to talk over ( the of­fi­cer) and ig­nor­ing his warn­ings.” When the of­fi­cer ex­plained that her ac­tions were se­ri­ous and that she could be ar­rested, Fladger folded her arms and turned away from the of­fi­cers.

De­spite sev­eral warn­ings, Fladger al­legedly re­fused to co­op­er­ate with of­fi­cers. When they in­formed her she was un­der ar­rest, she phys­i­cally re­sisted, try­ing to pull her arms from of­fi­cers and walk away. Af­ter sev­eral more warn­ings she fi­nally placed her arms be­hind her back.

She was charged with disor­derly con­duct and taken to the New­ton County De­ten­tion Cen­ter.
