Three more NC All-star teams be­gin tour­na­ments

On the heels of New­ton County's 13-un­der All-Star team that cap­tured the Ge­or­gia Ju­nior Dixie Boys cham­pi­onship Tues­day, three more team from the county em­bark on what they hope will also be a ti­tle run.

Two Dixie Youth teams travel to La Grange to open tour­na­ment play while the other All-Star con­tin­gent will at­tempt to cap­ture a state ti­tle in Al­bany.

So­cial Cir­cle foot­ball camp starts Mon­day

The So­cial Cir­cle foot­ball pro­gram will be host­ing the Red­skin Youth Camp July 18-21. The camp will be 6-8 p.m. at Stephens Park foot­ball field and is open to chil­dren ages 512.

This is the sec­ond year for the Red­skin Youth Camp. Last year's camp drew more than 50 par­tic­i­pants. The cost of the camp is $50 and each camper re­ceives a T-shirt.

The camp aims to teach chil­dren the fun­da­men­tals of block­ing, tack­ling, pass­ing and catch­ing. Campers will play against each other in non­con­tact, flag foot­ball games and skill de­vel­op­ment will also in­clude and ob­sta­cle course.

So­cial Cir­cle head coach David Seawright and coaches from the Red­skins var­sity team will be on hand to of­fer in­struc­tion. The camp is an ex­cel­lent way for up­com­ing play­ers to learn the ba­sics of foot­ball while work­ing on char­ac­ter de­vel­op­ment.
