Who will be our next hero?

New­ton County is full of ev­ery­day peo­ple chang­ing and mak­ing our com­mu­nity a bet­ter place. Those who have worked hard, given back and gone be­yond the nor­mal are fea­tured on the pages of The News as "Home­town Hero."

As the 2010 hon­oree, Kelli Hop­kins was pre­sented with the award for her un­break­able will, faith and de­ter­mi­na­tion to be the best mother she could be to her four chil­dren, three of whom are spe­cial needs chil­dren with rare med­i­cal con­di­tions.

Through­out last year, 10 de­serv­ing peo­ple with com­pelling sto­ries were cho­sen as Home­town He­roes.

Now it's time to vote for the one. The News is ask­ing its readers to chose a win­ner from the 10 nom­i­nees. You can vote by go­ing to www.covnews.com/ home­town/2011.

Vot­ing be­gins for the 2011 Home­town Hero be­gins March 17 and ends March 31 at mid­night.
