Son hits dad in the head with can­dle­stick

A fight be­tween fa­ther and son ended in blood­shed Wed­nes­day evening af­ter the son al­legedly hit his fa­ther in the head with a can­dle­stick.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports from the New­ton County Sher­iff’s Of­fice, deputies were called to a home on Air­port Road. When they ar­rived deputies saw Perry Win­ning lay­ing on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood.

Of­fi­cers spoke with Win­ning’s son who told them an ar­gu­ment be­gan when he found out his fa­ther had sold one of the son’s ve­hi­cles. Dur­ing that ar­gu­ment Win­ning re­port­edly threw a soda can at his son, but missed, and struck Win­ning’s wife in the hip in­stead. When the son be­gan laugh­ing, Win­ning at­tacked, ac­cord­ing to re­ports.

Win­ning al­legedly jumped on his son, wres­tled him to the couch and placed him in a head­lock. When his mother pulled Win­ning off their son, Win­ning al­legedly went into the kitchen area where the fight­ing con­tin­ued and struck his son in the mouth, bust­ing his lip. It was at this point that the son smacked his fa­ther over the head with a can­dle­stick.

Af­ter hear­ing all sides of the story, Perry Win­ning was ar­rested and trans­ported to the New­ton County De­ten­tion Cen­ter where he was charged with Fam­ily Vi­o­lence Act bat­tery.
