Cov­ing­ton shows off movie chops

Cov­ing­ton showed off its cre­den­tials to movie ex­ec­u­tives at The Next Cool Event in At­lanta, which was de­signed to show off the state’s film friendly com­mu­ni­ties and in­te­rior and event de­sign com­pa­nies.

“As one of the first “Cam­era Ready” com­mu­ni­ties in Ge­or­gia, Cov­ing­ton/ New­ton County is con­sid­ered as a must-see for lo­ca­tion scouts and our pres­ence en­sured the area as a stand­out lo­ca­tion,” said Clara Deemer, tourism di­rec­tor of the Cov­ing­ton-new­ton County Cham­ber of Com­merce.

“With both City of Cov­ing­ton and New­ton County elected of­fi­cials at­tend­ing, this was an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity to show­case the many at­tributes of Cov­ing­ton and New­ton County.”

The cham­ber con­tin­ues to make tourism a pri­or­ity and is shift­ing its mar­ket­ing strat­egy from printed ma­te­rial to so­cial me­dia out­lets in 2012, in­clud­ing:

— Cre­ation of new Tourism web­site that is aes­thet­i­cally pleas­ing while fo­cus­ing on ease of nav­i­ga­tion and pro­vid­ing in­for­ma­tion

— Face­book and Twit­ter ap­pli­ca­tion/up­dates

— Ad­ver­tise­ment in the 2012 Ge­or­gia Travel Guide, the state’s largest mar­ket­ing en­deavor — with 750,000 copies printed and dis­trib­uted statewide

— Ad­ver­tise­ment in Group Travel Lead­ers May 2012 is­sues, fea­tur­ing Ge­or­gia and the His­toric Heart­land Travel Re­gion — tar­get­ing group and bus tours, prompt­ing in­creased num­ber of overnight stays in our lo­cal ho­tels.
