County chairman candidate Keith Ellis is hosting the first of many planned meet-and-greets from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Mansfield Community House.

The meet and greet is for southeast Newton County, and Ellis said he plans to host meetings in other parts of the county.

“I’m welcoming anyone who would like to come, people who know me and some who don’t. I want to be able to listen to them a little bit, visit with them in a way that they feel comfortable telling me about their issues. I want to hear things they see as needs, try to build relationships,” Ellis said.

“I’m also want to give them the feeling that even after I’m elected I will be open to having them come see me or call me, so I can figure out their issues and respond in the right way.”

Ellis, a Republican candidate, is the only chairman candidate to announce he is running for office to date.
