East­side’s Raynor throws no-hit­ter

Ty Raynor threw a no­hit­ter through four in­nings and East­side's bats did the rest in a 16-0 win over Drew on Thurs­day.

Raynor faced 13 Ti­tans, strik­ing out 10 while walk­ing one. At the plate the Ea­gles pounded out 13 hits with Cody Walker and Matt Hitch­cock lead­ing the team by go­ing 3 for 4 on the night. Walker had a chance to hit for the cy­cle as he had a dou­ble, triple and an in-the-park grand slam home run.

Also hit­ting a home run blast for East­side was Musashi Briem who went 2 for 4 on the night. Jake Wright also went 2 for 4 hit­ting a triple and a sin­gle. Other Ea­gles reach­ing base with sin­gles were Keith Buck­hault, Daniel Gar­rett and Jerold Sum­ner.

Ear­lier this week East­side faced a cou­ple of other Re­gion 4-AAA foes.

The Ea­gles routed Henry County 23-1 in a matchup that saw East­side garner a to­tal of 19 hits while the Warhawks could only muster a sin­gle hit.

The Ea­gles hit through­out the lineup with Walker, Joey Mitchell, Keith Buck­hault and Briem rack­ing up three hits apiece while Wright, Hitch­cock and Drew Buck­hault each had a pair of hits and Jerold Sum­ner had one.

Tak­ing care of the pitch­ing du­ties for East­side were Drew Buck­hault and Matt Hitch­cock. Buck­hault al­lowed one hit over four in­nings while strik­ing out six and walk­ing two.

Hitch­cock fin­ished the game with a per­fect three up — three down in­ning strik­ing out all three bat­ters that he faced.

In what proved to be their best com­pe­ti­tion of the week, East­side de­feated the Lo­cust Grove Wild­cats by a score of 7-6. The back and forth game saw the Ea­gles out­hit the wild­cats 10 hits to their 8 hits. Daniel Gar­rett got the start for East­side and al­lowed seven hits over his 4-1/3 in­nings of work while strik­ing out three and walk­ing only one.

Of­fen­sively, Joey Mitchell and Jake Wright both had multi-hit games while Keith Buck­hault, Drew Buck­hault, Matt Hitch­cock, Jerold Sum­ner, Daniel Gar­rett and Musashi Briem each had a hit of their own. Jake Wright served as the closer for East­side and fin­ished the pitch­ing du­ties with 2-2/3 in­nings of strong work al­low­ing only one hit while strik­ing out five.
