Fam­ily Ser­vices Fu­neral Par­lor, Ker­mit, Texas

Jack Day, 84, passed away March 24 in Ker­mit af­ter a long bat­tle with ill­ness. He was born in 1928 in Cov­ing­ton to Robert Pre­ston and Fred­die Ruth (Whelchel) Day. He mar­ried his love Mil­dred Baker in 1950 in Ft. Worth, Texas, and they cel­e­brated 61 years to­gether. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents and a grand­child Brian Day.

Jack was a ded­i­cated fam­ily man who adored his grand­chil­dren and great­grand­chil­dren. He en­joyed camp­ing and square danc­ing with the “Shoot­ing Stars.” He served the com­mu­nity as a Boy Scout leader, Lit­tle League coach, School Board Mem­ber and mem­ber of the Board of Trus­tees for the Methodist Church. He was a mem­ber of the Ma­sonic Lodge and the Or­der of the East­ern Star. He served his coun­try in the US Navy aboard the USS Tarawa. He was also a mem­ber of the Texas LST Am­phibi­ous As­so­ci­a­tion.

Those left be­hind to cher­ish his mem­ory are his wife Mil­dred Day of Ker­mit; sons Robert Day and spe­cial friend Becky Woodard of Col­lege Sta­tion, Texas, John Day and wife Pam of Ker­mit; daugh­ter Mary Louis and hus­band Mike of Den­ver City, Texas; grand­chil­dren Eric Day, Jen­nifer Eicher and hus­band Rick, Larenda Gal­lardo and hus­band Omar, Heather Web­ster and spe­cial friend James Slay­ton, and Gar­rett Louis; and great­grand­chil­dren Zachary and Annabelle Eicher, Ko­hen and Gre­gory Gal­lardo, and Johnny and Robert Web­ster; and fam­ily friend De­bra Day.

Fu­neral Ser­vices will be held 2 p.m., to­day, March 28, at the First United Methodist Church in Ker­mit with the Rev. John Wade of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will fol­low at Ker­mit Ceme­tery. Pall­bear­ers will be John Day, Robert Day, Mike Louis, Gar­rett Louis, Eric Day, Omar Gal­lardo and James Slay­ton. Hon­orary Pall­bear­ers will be Red Se­gars, Dude Sch­le­hu­ber, Zachary Eicher, Annabelle Eicher, Ko­hen Gal­lardo, Gre­gory Gal­lardo, Johnny Web­ster and Robert Web­ster.
